Transferring Credits - NYU Computer Science Department

Transferring Credits

MS in CS & MS in IS programs

Master's students may transfer up to nine credits for coursework taken
outside NYU prior to their matriculation in the graduate program provided
that the coursework was not used to complete a degree, and that the
grades are B or better.

To transfer credits, a student must first fill out a form downloadable
as a pdf file from the GSAS administrative forms page.
(Scroll down to the GSAS list, and click on "Transfer Credit Request Form").

The completed form along with an official transcript and course descriptions must be submitted
to Jennifer Conlan Darlington in room 324, Warren Weaver Hall, or mailed to her:

Jennifer Conlan Darlington
Department of Computer Science
New York University,
251 Mercer St., Room 324
New York, NY, 10012

The request will be evaluated by the Director of Graduate Studies for the MS program,
or the Director of the MS program in Information Systems, and, if approved, routed
to GSAS for final approval.

The student will be informed via email when the department is notified of the outcome.

PhD program

Doctoral students may transfer up to 40 credits from another institution,
whether the credits counted toward a previous degree or not. The procedures and
time limits are the same as those for MS students, but the transcripts and forms
should be submitted to Santiago Pizzini, in room 325, Warren Weaver Hall, or
mailed to him at the address given above. The request will be evaluated by the
Director of Graduate Studies for the PhD program.
