- 12/11: Late assignments
We will accept code submissions until 11:59 PM Monday December 15 (under the usual lateness rules: slack hours and/or deduction of grades for lateness). After that time, we will not accept submitted assignments at all.
- 12/11: Open vs. closed notes for final exam
The final exam is open notes except that you cannot bring printouts of JOS source code. The exam is also closed computer: no laptops, phones, tablets, etc.
- 12/9: Thursday's reading is now posted

The exams page includes an example exam. There are no guarantees about similarity of format, difficulty, scope, etc.
- 12/9: Office hours rescheduled
Mike's office hours this Friday will be 4:00-5:00 PM rather than 1:00-2:00 PM
- 11/11: Class will not meet this Thursday
We've gone over by 15 minutes far more than five times...
- 11/2: Minor change to Lab 5 files
If you haven't started Lab 5, you don't need to act. If you have started, then do a 'git pull' to get the update. As usual, you can use gitk or other git tools to inspect the diffs.
- 11/2: Lab 7 released
Lab 7 is released. The lab consists of three deliverables. Project proposals are due by email to the staff email list on November 17 (no slack hours can be used). Code is due on December 12. Demos will take place on December 15 and 16.
- 10/29: Lab 6 released
The lab is in two parts. Part 6A is due Friday, November 14, and part 6B is due Friday, November 21.
- 10/19: Lab 5 released
The lab is due November 7, 9:00 PM.
- 10/15: Schedule change for Friday office hours
Mike's office hours Friday will be 2:15-2:45 and 4:45-5:15 PM rather than the usual time of 1:00-2:00 PM
- 10/15: Updating RCU link
In the originally posted paper for RCU, Figure 15 did not display. This issue is fixed in the schedule page. The updated link is also here.
- 10/9: Memory barriers
We discussed memory barriers in class today. This paper (also posted on the schedule page) delves into memory barriers.
- 10/9: Read-Copy Update links updated
The reading for our next class consists of a paper, a talk, and skimming another paper
- 10/7: The makeup class is rescheduled to the following week
The makeup class will be Friday, October 17 at 3:00 PM, not Friday October 10 at 3:00 PM.
- 10/2: Schedule updated
On Tuesday we will discuss the exokernel, combining both the reading for Thursday and the newly assigned reading for Tuesday.
- 10/2: Lab 4 released
The lab is in three parts. Part 4A is due Friday, October 17, part 4B is due Friday, October 24, and part 4C is due Friday, October 31.
- 10/2: Makeup class
There will be a makeup class on Friday, October 10 at 3:00 PM. The schedule page contains details.
- 9/17: Lab 3 released
The lab is in two parts. Part 3A is due Friday, October 3. Part 3B is due Friday, October 10.

- 9/16: Adjustment in reading schedule
On Thursday, we will discuss the Comparison of hardware and software techniques. If you read the paper for today, please reskim it before Thursday's class.
- 9/10: Lab 2 released
The lab is in two parts. Part 2A is due Wednesday, September 17 (only five days after Lab 1). Part 2B is due Friday, September 26.
- 9/8: Mike's Friday office hours rescheduled
This week, Mike's office hour will be Thursday 5:30-6:30, not Friday 1:00-2:00
- 9/4: Grading script should be fixed now
If you haven't started the lab, don't worry about any of this. If you have, do a 'git pull' (first making sure you are on the branch lab1).
- 9/4: Lab1 grading script broken
We released a broken grading script. We will release a fix shortly, along with instructions to update. However, you can work most of the lab without this script, so the broken script should not block your work.
- 9/4: Lab 1 released
It is due Friday, September 12, 2014.
