Assignment #1 - Introduction to Digital Literary Editions
Due Monday 9/23/2013
Summary:
Select an on-line literary archive of your choice (perhaps one that reflects your field of literature) to look at and analyze from a scholarly perspective. Some samples are posted to our resource pages at http://cs.nyu.edu/~deena/HC_Resources/DH_ResLiterature.php#literaryArchives ... but you are in no way limited to these examples. The ALA (American Library Association) is one of many professional and scholarly organizations to provide a rubric or framework for thinking about and analysing on-line and/or digital editions based on primary source materials. One summary of elements to consider when evaluating such a site is listed here: http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/rusa/sections/history/resources/pubs/usingprimarysources/index.cfm#evaluating
- Be prepared to discuss what you do and do not like about the site that you have selected from a scholarly point of view.
- We will ask that you make a 5-10 minute presentation on the site in class.
- Please email the URL of the site that you have selected to the instructors before the presentation.
Submit:
Nothing to submit ... other than emailing the URL to the instructors *before* class!
