Hi-
Herb Enderton gave this pointer to Kreider's review of several of Addison's
articles: JSL V 29 (1964) page 60.
Addison's article "Separation principles in the hierarchies of classical and
effective descriptive set theory," appears in Fundamenta Mathematicae,
V 46 (1958) pages 123-135. It's available on the web at:
http://matwbn.icm.edu.pl/ksiazki/fm/fm46/fm4612.pdf
On page 127 the article says: "After lengthy discussions here in Warszawa
it has been decided to propose..." and then the notation is presented. It's
fun to see a little of the process recorded in this way.
