The research group on "Knowledge and existence of mathematical
objects" (funded by Fonds de Recherche du Québec - Société et Culture or
FQRSC) invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship
starting on September 1, 2012. The research group includes, among
others, professors from the four universities located in Montreal: Greg
Lavers from Concordia University, Emily Carson, Michael Hallett and Dirk
Schlimm from McGill University, Yvon Gauthier, François Lepage and
Jean-Pierre Marquis from Université de Montréal, and Mathieu Marion from
Université du Québec à Montréal. They have also working with them a
number of graduate students at both the MA and the PhD level. The
students are also fully integrated into the team.
The area of specialization is logic and/or philosophy of mathematics.
The fellowship will preferably be held at the Université du Québec à
Montréal, but may be held in one of the above-mentioned universities.
The fellow will be expected to have a well-defined research project,
help in organizing conferences and workshops, and participate in
research activities. Should the opportunity arise in one of the
departments, the fellow may teach up to one course each term.
All requirements for the PhD must have been completed by the starting
date and no earlier than September 2007. The stipend is $50,000
(Canadian dollars) per annum.
