NOTE: the first talk (on Sep 23) will held in
715-719 Broadway, 7th Floor Conference Room, at 12:00-1:00.
Goals of Seminar
The phenomenon of numerical non-robustness is well-known
in various scientific and engineering applications.
This is a serious issue that has not been successfully
dealt with in practice. In principle, a large part of this nonrobustness can
be eliminated. The main impediment boils down to
(a) efficiency and (b) ease-of-use.
To achieve these goals, it is necessary to bring together
experts in several areas, from
algorithms and numerical computation to
compilers and programming languages.
The contents seminar is broadly construed to fit participants' interest,
and to encourage exchange of ideas. Students are especially
welcome!
