Setting the Proxy Information in your Browser
Mirror from NYU ITS page

Why You Need Proxy
  • To use your email account at NYU via a browser.
  • Certain information sources, such as the RLIN and OCLC catalog databases, are available to students and researchers at NYU only if access is made from a computer system attached to NYU's network, NYU-NET. This restriction presents a problem for people traveling, or who work from home and use an Internet Service Provider (ISP) other than NYU itself.

    How to Proxy

  • It is possible to configure your Internet browser, such as Netscape or Internet Explorer, to access NYU-NET from afar in such as way as to permit full access to such information sources. According to this method, your browser will use a computer system here at the university as a helper in accessing your remote destination.

When accessing NYU-NET in this way, you will be prompted for your NYU NetID and Password.
