Hi Dennis,

There is no way to do this on a per-user basis.  Also, changing it for
the machine would require a reboot.  Becasue we're not on campus, I'd
be reluctant under almost any circumstances to reboot a server that
people depend on unless I have to, because of the possibility that it
might have trouble coming back up.  The limit is 50 processes per
user, which seems more than adequate in most cases.  I looked at your
processes, and see that you currently have 42.  One way to cut down
would be your xterms, of which you have 13.  For each xterm process,
there is also a csh process, so that's 26 processes total.  Also, you
are running processes such xcloxk, xman, etc on griffin that could be
run on your local machine.
