Garden Planters

A strategic two-player board game where you move gardeners and plant flowers to outmaneuver your opponent. Play against an AI opponent or challenge a friend in this chess-meets-gardening strategy game!

Game Modes

  • vs Computer - Play against a strategic AI opponent
  • vs Player - Play with a friend on the same device (hot-seat mode)

Difficulty Levels

  • Beginner - Sunflowers (15) and Rose Bushes (10) only - perfect for learning the basics
  • Standard - All four flower types (Sunflowers, Roses, Lilies, Wildflowers) - the classic experience
  • Advanced - All flowers plus special seasonal mechanics and garden features (Fountain, Compost Bin, Scarecrow)

Advanced Level Features

Four Seasons:

  • Spring (Turns 1-8): Normal gameplay
  • Summer (Turns 9-16): Sunflowers block their square + 4 adjacent squares (up/down/left/right)
  • Autumn (Turns 17-24): All flowers can be placed on FROM square OR any adjacent to destination
  • Winter (Turn 25+): Gardeners can jump over Rose Bushes

Garden Features (Once per game per player):

  • ⛲ Fountain: Teleport one gardener to any square within 2 spaces of center (5,5)
  • 🗑️ Compost Bin: Your next 2 flowers can be ANY type (even if depleted)
  • 🧹 Scarecrow: Opponent must place their next flower 3+ squares from all their gardeners

How to Play

Each turn has 3 simple steps:

  1. MOVE - Select your gardener and move it like a chess queen (any straight line)
  2. PLANT - Place a flower on the square you moved FROM
  3. END - Your turn ends automatically

Flower Types

  • 🌻 Sunflower (10) - Blocks its square
  • 🌹 Rose Bush (5) - Blocks its square + 4 diagonals (most powerful!)
  • 💧 Lily Pond (4) - Blocks its square
  • 🌈 Wildflower (5) - Place on FROM square OR any empty adjacent square

Winning

Force your opponent to run out of moves by strategically blocking the board with your flowers!

Scoring

After the game ends, earn points for:

  • Each flower placed (1 point)
  • Connected groups of same flowers (+1 per flower bonus)
  • Rainbow Gardens: All 4 flower types in a 2×2 area (+10)
  • Winner bonus (+25)
  • Mobile gardeners at game end (+3 each)
