Bubble Battle
Bubble Battle is a two-player strategy game where players take turns planning the trajectories of bubbles across a playing field. Once both players are done, the bubbles move as directed. They will bounce off of walls and may bump into other bubbles which may result in bouncing, if they are same color or if they collide in the bottom of the screen, or they are both destroyed.
Game Overview
In Bubble Battle, players alternate turns placing colored bubbles (red and blue) on their respective sides of the playing field. Each bubble launched has unique properties that affect its behavior and scoring potential. The game ends when either all bubbles have been eliminated or scored, or when the 30-second timer expires after the simulation phase begins.
Game Elements
Playing Field
The game screen is divided into several key areas:
- A top scoring line which bubbles pass through to score points.
- The top two-thirds zone where bubble collisions can result in both bubbles being destroyed.
- Left and right lower zones where red and blue players respectively can place their bubbles and where all colliding bubbles bounce.
- Visual indicators showing zone boundaries and placement restrictions.
How to Play
- Setup Phase
- Players take turns placing bubbles.
- Each player has 15 mL of soap solution available. Larger bubbles use more soap solution.
- Red player places on the left side. Blue player on the right side.
- Bubble Placement
- Use the mouse to position your bubble.
- Adjust bubble size using Up/Down arrow keys.
- Modify launch angle using keys 1 and 2.
- Click to place the bubble.
- Bubbles are not allowed to overlap during placement.
- Controls
- ↑/↓ - Increase/decrease bubble size
- 1/2 - Adjust launch angle
- Mouse - Position bubble
- Click or Spacebar - Place bubble
- A button to skip all remaining placement turns.
- Animation Phase
- After all bubbles are placed, the animation begins.
- Bubbles move according to their launch angles and sizes. Larger bubbles move slower.
- Bubbles bounce off walls and floor.
- When bubbles of different colors collide in the top two thirds of the screen, both are destroyed.
- Scoring
- Points are awarded based on bubble size when they cross the top of the screen.
- Larger bubbles are worth more points.
- The player with the highest score when the game ends wins.
- Game ends when all bubbles have either scored or been destroyed, or when the 30-second timer expires.
Strategy Tips
- Consider bubble size carefully: larger bubbles score more points but are slower.
- Use the angles strategically to create paths through opponent's bubbles.
- Watch for collision opportunities in the top third to eliminate opponent's bubbles.
