Ilya Nemenman Departments of Physics and Biology Emory University Title: Coarse-graining stochastic biochemical reaction networks in the adiabatic limit Abstract: In this talk, I will demonstrate a prescription for accurate coarse-grained simulation of stochastic kinetic systems with time scale separation. I will show how to integrate out the fast degrees of freedom, while rigorously preserving their effects on the fluctuations of slower variables. This procedure allows to speed up simulation of kinetic networks many-fold and reveals a number of interesting phenomena, previously unobserved in the context of classical stochastic kinetics.
