The Guardians

The Guardians of moral purity
Protect us from the privileged elite
In journalism or academy
Whose deference to their views is incomplete.

No service, science, activism, art,
No lifetime bravely speaking truth to power.
Will save them if they venture to depart
The orthodoxy of the current hour.

"These sexist, racist gangsters have conspired
To smear the underprivileged with lies.
They must be shunned, dishonored, doxed, and fired,
And any who defend the scum, likewise."

How virtuous the Guardians' words and deeds!
Lilies that fester smell far worse than weeds.
