Stuff I do outside of research (probably outdated but still somewhat true)
Running
I’ve done running races essentially my entire life. I used to run track and field, especially the 1500m. My PR is a 3:51 which is about equivalent to a 4:09 mile. These days I occasionally run marathons. I’ve run the Boston and New York marathon, placing in the top 120 on both and have a personal record of 2:29:52. I race for the Brooklyn Track Club.
Cycling
In recent years I’ve been mixing running with bike racing. Bike racing is a lot more tactical, so the strongest person often doesn’t win. I am often racing at ungodly hours in central park and prospect park in New York. I race for the CRCA subteam Rockstar Games (The studio behiind GTA VI). I also enjoy bike touring. After graduating from my Masters in the summer of 2016, I decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of mine and bike across the United States. 40 days after I had left the Bay Area I reached the White House in Washington D.C. While it was hardly a life changing spiritual experience, it was certainly an adventure. If you want to know more about it you can read my way too detailed travel journal at crazyguyonabike.com
