Morley <https://mathscinet.ams.org/mathscinet/MRAuthorID/503902>, Professor
Emeritus at Cornell University, died on October 11 at 90 years of age. A
former president of the Association for Symbolic Logic, he was widely known
for his research in mathematical logic and model theory, with Morley's
categoricity theorem <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categorical_theory> named
for him and his breakthrough work in this area. In 2003 Morley won the AMS
Leroy P. Steele Prize for Seminal Contribution to Research
<https://www.ams.org/notices/200304/comm-steele.pdf> for his 1962 PhD
dissertation, “Categoricity in Power,” wherein he proved the categoricity
theorem. Morley taught for more than thirty years at Cornell and advised
many students. "Many colleagues and students knew him better as “Uncle
Mike,” a genial friend and empathetic adviser," according to James Dean at
Cornell University. Read the complete Cornell remembrance
