Subject: Midwest PhilMath Workshop 2020
To:
Dear friends of the Midwest PhilMath Workshop,
We hope you’re all doing as well as possible in the current unsettled state
of the world.
We’re writing to let you know about this Fall’s Workshop
<https://philosophy.nd.edu/news/events/mwpmw-2020/>. Because of the
coronavirus, we unfortunately won’t be able to meet in person. But we plan
to have a “virtual” version of the workshop via Zoom. We hope that even
though we can’t have the usual nice meals, we will be able to do some good
philosophy of math together as usual.
The plan is to meet for several Wednesday afternoons in a row (“afternoon”
from the point of view of the Eastern US time zone) during the month of
October. Typical sessions will consist of two talks, with the details to be
firmed up as the program takes shape.
If you would like to present a talk at the Workshop, please send us a
paper, or an extended abstract, by *September 1, 2020*. Talks will be
scheduled for about 40 minutes (or shorter), and there will be time for
discussion as usual.
If you would like to participate in the Workshop but aren’t submitting a
paper, please just drop Paddy (blanchette.1 at nd.edu) an email, so that we
can get you the Zoom details.
Finally: it’s our pleasure to welcome our new colleague Jc Beall as a new
member of the MWPMW organizing committee. (Thanks, Jc!)
*In short*:
Paper submissions by September 1 to all of us:
Paddy Blanchette (blanchette.1 at nd.edu)
Tim Bays (bays.5 at nd.edu)
Curtis Franks (cfranks at nd.edu)
Jc Beall (jbeall at nd.edu)
To be on the list of conference participants, just email Paddy (by, say, a
few days before the first meeting):
Paddy Blanchette (blanchette.1 at nd.edu)
Details can be found at the MWPMW-20 website
<https://philosophy.nd.edu/news/events/mwpmw-2020/>. The program will be
posted there once it’s set.
We look forward to (virtually) seeing many of you in October.
- Paddy Blanchette, Tim Bays, Curtis Franks, and Jc Beall.
