Bennett on Spectra and EPRR

S. Cook mentions in his 1983 Turing award lecture that -  to his best knowledge -  the first appearance of the notion of a NP class is to be found in Bennett’s 1962 thesis, under the name:

"Extended positive rudimentary relations".

I am wondering if the former concept has been followed any further ?
