[FOM] internal/external distinction

In the literature critical of applications of NSA, the distinction
between internal and external entities often seems to be overlooked.
A recent example is an article by Alexander Pruss published by
Synthese last year; see https://doi.org/10.1007/s11229-018-02064-x

Is there any published work that has made the point that some of the
literature has overlooked this important distinction?
