Call for abstracts

The FilMat network promotes the philosophy of mathematics within and
outside Italy, fostering cooperation among scholars worldwide and
supporting young researchers. After its inaugural conference (Scuola
Normale Superiore, Pisa 2012), two official conferences (San Raffaele,
Milan, 2014; Chieti-Pescara, 2016) and a graduate conference (Trento,
2017), the network is now advertising its third international
conference, to be held in Mussomeli (Caltanissetta, Sicily) in 2018.

We expect to host up to 16 contributed talks by speakers of any
nationality (selected by double-blind refereeing). Submissions of
original contributions are invited in any area of the philosophy of
mathematics, especially if connected with the following topics:

- structures vs. objects in mathematics
- the metaphysics and epistemology of structures
- historical aspects of mathematical structuralism
- varieties of structuralist approaches to the foundations of
mathematics: set theory, category theory, and homotopy type theory
- categoricity and structure
- logics and structures
- logical pluralism and the foundations of mathematics
- proofs and explanations in mathematics
- determinacy and vagueness in mathematics.

Submissions by young scholars are especially welcome.

Abstracts must be written in English, and have a *maximum length of
1500 words (references included)*, and should be prepared for
blind-review, with all identifying details (name, affiliation, email
and abstract title) in a separate file. Submissions should be sent in
.pdf format. Contributed papers should be emailed to:
conference at filmatnetwork.com.
Deadline for submission is February 18, 2016.
