There are two papers by Wang on the iterative conception of set that may be relevant to the question asked by Bill Taylor. One if the chapter entitle "The Concept of Set," Chapter 6 of "From Mathematics to Philosophy", and the other is "Large Sets" in the proceedings of the 5th international LMPS conference (London Ontario 1975).
