In reply to Joe Shipman's query: there is quite
a substantial literature on the subject of whether
branching quantifiers occur in natural language.
Hintikka gives the following example:
Some relative of each villager and some relative
of each townsman hate each other.
There is a lengthy paper by Barwise on this question:
