This is clearly relevant to Harvey's speculations on the difficulty of
telling whether sin(large number) is positive. FWIW, I agree with his
speculations; I doubt very much that they will ever be proved, however.

       The forty trillionth binary digit of pi is 0.

This lecture will cover various aspects, historical and mathematical,
of the computation of digits of pi and related polylogarithmic
constants. The mathematics involved is both subtle and beautiful.

Included will be a discussion of the surprising recent algorithms that
allow for the computation of individual binary digits of pi (without
computing all the preceding digits).
