A one day conference in mathematical logic to celebrate Jim Schmerl's
60th birthday will be held on September 16th, 2000 (Saturday) at the

Macintyre and Hal Kierstead, and three shorter talks related to Jim's
work by Ali Enayat, Roman Kossak, and Eugene Spiegel; it will begin
early in the afternoon. Festivities include a dinner party Saturday
evening.

people pick participants up at the airport, to the extent
feasible. If you wish to be picked up, please send an e-mail message
to Manuel Lerman with your flight information (including expected
arrival time), and he will get back to you with information about
arrangements to travel to Storrs.

poached salmon or chicken chardonnay. Please submit your choices and
a check for the correct amount by August 18, 2000.

Graduate students wishing to attend should register, but their dinner
costs will be waived. There may be some modest travel support for
graduate students and recent Ph.D.s---please contact Carol Wood
(cwood at wesleyan.edu) for further information about travel support.

Looking forward to seeing you. Checks should be made payable to
"Department of Mathematics" and mailed to Manuel Lerman, Department
of Mathematics U-3009, University of Connecticut, 196 Auditorium Rd.,
