The question of the existence of "natural" intermediate r.e. degrees is imprecisely stated. Here is a related but precise question: Are there any degrees between strictly 0 and 0' that are left fixed by all automorphisms of the r.e. degrees? Perhaps Barry Cooper can venture a conjecture here. -- JS
