FOM: coping with spam

Dear FOM subscribers,

It now appears that a hostile individual has spammed the FOM list and
plans to continue doing so.

As FOM moderator, I am examining the ethical, legal and academic
ramifications of this attack on the FOM list, and I am taking measures
to combat it.  In the meantime, here are some steps that you as
individual subscribers can take:

1. Configure your e-mail software to reject e-mail from known
   spammers.

2. Ask known spammers to remove you from their spam database.

3. When you post messages to FOM, please include an informative
   subject line.

4. Please be aware that, from now on, all future FOM postings will
   have ``FOM:'' in the subject line.  You may assume that any e-mail
   without this sequence of characters is not from FOM.
