Two (possibly four) tenure track positions available beginning August 23, 1999.
Appointments will be at the rank of assistant professor. Teaching load is the

excellence, or the potential for excellence, in teaching will be a primary
consideration. Successful applicants should have an active research program in
mathematics or mathematics education with a commitment to continued scholarly

One position is restricted to applicants having a doctorate in mathematics

significant coursework in mathematics. The Department of Mathematics provides
all mathematics content and methods courses for K-12 teacher certification

the teaching load for this position is classes taught at the WIU Regional Center
in Moline, IL in rotation with with other faculty in mathematics education.
A second position is open only to applicants having a Ph.D. degree in
mathematics by August 1999. The Department has a commitment to integrate the
use of computer algebra systems and graphing technologies into the teaching of
mathematics. The successful applicant will be encouraged to contribute to this
goal. There are approximately 80 undergraduate majors and 12 master's degree
candidates in mathematics. The department supports student chapters of the
Mathematical Association of America and Kappa Mu Epsilon National Mathematics
Honor Society.
The review process will begin January 15, 1999. Completed applications will
include a resume, three letters of reference, and photocopies of transcripts
