FOM: Wittgenstein: two clarifications

Bill Tait is right; my message on Carnap was too strongly worded.
Please forgive the cynicism about human nature in general!
My general intent was simply to make the point that Carnap was
an unusually gracious and tolerant person. Hilary Putnam has even
called him a saint; though perhaps that, too, would be to go too
far, in the other direction I fear. Someone needs to produce a
Carnap bio like the one Dawson did on G"odel, revealing the whole
complex personality of the man.
