Davenport Man Sentenced on Federal Drug and Gun Charges
JUL 07  -- Davenport, IA - On July 7, 2007, 
Joseph Lee POWERS , 27, of Davenport, Iowa, and formerly of Iowa City, Iowa, was sentenced to one day imprisonment for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and sixty months imprisonment for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, announced United States Attorney Matthew G. Whitaker. The sixty month sentence is to be served consecutive to the one day sentence for a total of sixty months and one day imprisonment. United States District Judge John A. Jarvey also ordered Powers to serve a three year term of supervised release following his incarceration and to pay an assessment of $100 to the Crime Victim Fund. This investigation was conducted by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration and the Iowa City, IA, Police Department.
