Brockton Man Sentenced for Possession of a Loaded Pistol
OCT 02 -- BOSTON, MA - A Brockton man was sentenced yesterday to 60 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Steven W. Derr, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration - Boston Field Division; Acting United States Attorney Michael K. Loucks; and Chief William K. Conlon
of the Brockton Police Department announced that
JERREAU PELOTE , age 25, of Brockton was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Court Judge Rya W. Zobel to 60 months in prison, to be followed by 3 years of supervised release, after pleading guilty in June of 2009 to a single count Indictment charging
PELOTE with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
At the earlier plea hearing, the prosecutor told the Court that, had the case proceeded to trial, the Government's evidence would have proven that on or about August 14, 2008,
PELOTE , a previously-convicted felon, possessed a Cobra Model FS380 .380 pistol loaded with seven rounds of ammunition, which was recovered as a result of an investigation conducted by the Brockton Police Department. Federal Law prohibits individuals previously convicted of a felony from possessing firearms or ammunition.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Brockton Police Department.
