Smith County Man Sentenced for Methamphetamine Violations
JULY 23 (CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas)  --A 39-year-old Tyler, Texas man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent in Charge Javier Pea and U.S. Attorney John M. Balestoday.
Jose Eduardo Moreno pleaded guilty on Feb. 4, 2013 to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Michael H. Schneider.
According to information presented in court, on Oct. 12, 2012, Moreno was found in possession of approximately 52 grams of methamphetamine which he intended to distribute in the Eastern District of Texas. A federal grand jury returned an indictment on Nov. 7, 2012 charging Moreno with federal drug trafficking crimes.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Kilgore Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Ann Cozby
