Assignment 3
Due: Thursday, March 6th

GIF Animation

For this assignment you are to scan in or find a copy of the official NYU Torch. First, you should "clean up" your copy of the torch in Photoshop so that it looks presentable. Pay particular attention to the edges of the torch, and make certain that they have been nicely "aliased" for your background.

From this initial image, you are to create an animated GIF file of at least 12 images (although certainly not limited to 12!). You may make your torch do anything you wish: It could be a simple, business-like flicker of the flame; it could be a title or slogan that sprouts out of the torch; or it could be a Monty-Pythonesque flight of fancy. Anything is OK, as long as it is done "elegantly" and with some imagination.

Extra credit will be given for particular spectacular examples.

Although yours is likely to be more complex, here is a simple example from Ajit Kambil's Home Page at Stern:

Load your pages up to the ACF5 server using the FTP client of your choice (Fetch, etc.) So that you do not have to destroy the look of your ACF5 Home Page, this assignment will use the following naming scheme for the first page:

Thus, the URL for looking at your page (presuming that you have User ID "abc1234") would be:
