Assignment #3

In this assignment, you are to create three new web pages and a Photoshop title:

1) The first web page should be called assignments.html, and should be linked from your home page at index.html Basically, this and all future assignments should be linked from this page. Make certain that your name appears on this page.

In addition, be sure to post the following to your assignments page:

• the .JPG file that you created in your first Photoshop assignment (the picture of you in an unlikely setting!) noted as Assignment #1

2) Your other two original pages about you form the heart of the current assignment. Any combination of your background, your interests, and your experiences will do!You should include a graphic title or logo on both pages; at least one additional image on each page; as well as text. Both pages should include links back to your assignments page and to each other.

Write this page using a text editor (such as Text Wrangler or BBEdit on the Mac or Notepad in Windows) WITHOUT the assistance of a WYSIWYG editing package!

Here is a list of required elements you should include in these two pages:

• Create the title or Logo you wish to use in Photoshop file for these pages. Titles and logos should use a nice font and one or more layer effects (such as drop shadow or outer glow). Use FILE / SAVE FOR WEB to post the title or logo to your pages as a .GIF, a .JPG file or a .PNG file.
• There should be hyperlinks on both pages that go back to your "index.html" file; back to the assignments.html page; to each other; and also include at least two links to other sites.
• The pages should each have at least two example of font tags, for example bold; italics; or text in a different color.
• You should include at least one numbered list or one bulleted list somewhere on one or both of the pages.
• You should include at least one table somewhere on one or both of the pages.
• At least one of your images should link to another page or another site.

Hint: Make certain that you test your pages locally using Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer.

4) Upload your files (both the images and the HTML files) with software from ITS or directly from Fetch , Fugu or winscp or another SFTP client to the i6 UNIX server. Your files should go in the directory (i.e., sub-folder) called "public_html" on the UNIX server. Test your files using Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer again once they are on the web server.

5) Submit your homework by posting your URL to "NYU Classes". More information on submitting files with NYU Classes is also available here.
