Hello and welcome to Intro to Web Design and Computer Principles, section 06, Fall 2012. All the course information and assignments can be found here. Check the home page regularly for important announcements and updates. If you have any questions at all about the course requirements, the assignments, and any technical issues, or anything we go over in class, please let me know. Questions are good! If you have a question, it's likely someone else has the same question too, so please speak up... either in class, or make an appointment to see me during office hours.
This course explores current developments in the world of computers and the Internet. Through in-class demonstrations, discussions, and production assignments, you’ll learn the fundamentals of desktop publishing, web authoring, image editing, and multimedia tools. We will be using software applications from Adobe Creative Suite 5 (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Indesign) to create and manipulate images, make animations, and design for print and online media. We’ll cover basics of web development using the basic Hypertext Mark-Up Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets.
Three years of high school mathematics or equivalent. No prior computing experience is assumed. Students with computing experience should consult with the computer science department before registering. Offered every semester. 4 points.
