==============================================================
To all Computer Science Majors at NYU!
The ACM (Association of Computing Machinery,
www.acm.org) Chapter
at NYU would like to announce the formation of the ACM
Programming Team.
Every year the ACM runs a

world-wide intercollegiate programming contest, where the
winners receive
prizes, scholarships,
etc. Every so often other organizations announce similar
programming
competitions (for
example, last year Computer Associates International
www.cai.com, held
one). NYU has been unable
to send a winning team to any of these competitions for the
last couple of
years. This hopefully
will change soon. We welcome anyone who wants to improve
their
problem-solving, coding and
team-working skills (and try to win some cool stuff such as a
pair of
tickets anywhere in the USA)
to join us in our first practice session.
Where: Courant Institute, Warren Weaver. The ACM lounge,
room 501
   When: Tuesday, February 6th, 2001, noon - 2pm
As an incentive for those who are doubting whether to
attend or not,
there will be limited amounts of food.

The time and location will not necessarily be the same in
the
future, we will attempt to cater to the schedules of our
members as much as
possible. For those
that cannot attend due to scheduling conflicts, we will
organize a second,
alternate weekly
session, which will possibly be Mondays 12-2pm or 10am -
noon. There will
be a mailing list set up
soon for all. If you are interested but can not attend this
first meeting,
please send an email
expressing your interest to yn247@nyu.edu

   Sincerely,

Yuri Niyazov and Dipin Hora, captains
