We restate http://www.cs.nyu.edu/pipermail/fom/2015-July/018809.html
correcting some minor typos and making some small simplifications.
DEFINITION 1. N is the set of all nonnegative integers. i,j,k,n,m are
positive integers. x,y,z represent nonempty non repeating finite
sequences from N. x_i is the i-th term of x, and x[<=i] is the
sequence of first i terms of x, where 1 <= i
<= lth(x). [i,j]! = {i!,(i+1)!,...,j!}. Linear inequalities take the
form t = 0, t > 0, t >= 0, t not= 0, with integer coefficients,
constant coefficients allowed.
DEFINITION 2. y is an k-continuation of x on E containedin N if and only if
i. y is non repeating and properly extends x.
ii. Every set of at most k linear inequalities in k variables and
coefficients from {-k,...,k} with a solution in the terms of y from E
has a solution in the terms of x.
x is a k-continuation of x if and only if x is a k-continuation of x on N.
PROPOSITION 1. Let k,max(x) << m < n/2. (x,[m,n]!) has a
k-continuation y of length n^k, and no k-continuation (y[<=ijn],y_i +
y_j) on [m,y_i + y_j] not= emptyset.
Proposition 1 is explicitly Pi04, and easily put in explicitly Pi03
form. It is harder to put it in explicitly Pi01 form, but this can be
done replacing << with a exponential type expression, and another
exponential type expression for where the continuation lies.
THEOREM 2. Proposition 1 is provably equivalent to Con(SMAH) over ACA.
Here SMAH is ZFC with strongly Mahlo cardinals of finite order.
