On the dispersion and Balkanization of computer science education at institutes of higher learning

At one great university
(The one that pays my salary)
The catalogue lists fifty-three
Programs giving a degree
Bachelors, masters, PhD,
In some kind of computer stuff.
A couple more rejoice to state
That they give a certificate.

Each has its individual slants,
Its courses, its equipment grants,
Its staff, its deans, its faculty
Who guard its turf religiously.
I think that fifty-three's enough,
But that's the school's priority.
