Here are the instructions for downloading JDK (Java Development Kit)
and the Kawa IDE (Integrated Development Environment).
The JDK bundle contains among other things, the java compiler
(javac) which produces java bytecode. It also contains the java
interpreter (java) which executes the bytecode, i.e., runs your
We say that Kawa is a "thin layer" above the JDK. This means that
it does not contain the compiler or the interpreter (it points to
JDK); but it will enable you to compile, debug and run your programs
by chosing menu options. For instance, if you make a compilation
error, Kawa displays the error messages in a separate window. When you
double click a given error message, Kawa will point to the offending
line in your program. This is very helpful, especially for long

The Kawa people allow you a 30-day trial period. So the downloading is

30-day trial period . Payment can be made by either check or credit
card. Upon receipt of your payment, the Kawa people will send you a
key and a code that will enable you to use Kawa after the trial
